Block Island Community Uke Group

The Block Island Community Uke Group is a new program for 2023. Led by Jayme Hennessy and Megan Hennessy and funded by the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts.

When do we meet: The second Wednesday of each month from January to June at 7 PM. Our first meeting is scheduled for January 11th and lasts about one hour

Where do we meet: The Island Community Center.

Tuning the Uke: If you don’t have a digital tuner handy you can download an app for your phone or tablet. Another option is the online tuner at the Ukebuddy website:

Chord Chart: The following chart presents a good collection of chords. We will be starting with the C/G7 and F chords- possibly including the Aminor. This set of chords will help you to play a good number of songs. The chart is helpful but you need to know how to make the shapes ( which fingers go where on the fretboard). If you are a beginner check out the video that follows on the Basic Chords. Aaron is an instructor who has worked with the Hawaii Music Supply store – also known as the Ukulele Site in Hawaii.
